Kiwi.com Weekend in the Cloud is a free weekend training event led by top Kiwi.com Platform and SRE engineers that will provide you with a technical introduction to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, Kubernetes and monitoring tools.

Entry task

The entry task is a simple assignment to ensure that you have the basic knowledge necessary to understand the topics that will be covered, including the basics of coding and cloud technologies.

Jan Doleček

Jan focuses on the reliability and scalability parts of software development, ensuring that our services are as reliable as needed while allowing us to move quickly. He spent 5 years working on (and fixing) the cloud at Google.

You can talk with them about:

SRE, DevOps, Google Cloud, large system design, incident management, war stories; or even yoga and mindfulness.

Adam Janiš

Adam joined Kiwi.com more than three years ago as a Webmaster, since then he sharpened his devops/infrastructure skills and currently, he is taking care of our Cloud Infrastructure.

Nikola Krupez

Nikola started years ago as an IP network engineer. During the way he learned that DevOps + Python go hand in hand with networking so he turned an ever present hobby into a full-time occupation.

Matej Velikonja

Matej is a developer for more than 10 years and has been working for many companies. He joined Kiwi in 2018 as a platform engineer, working mainly with GoLang, Terraform, serverless and process automation.

Golang, terraform, open source, serverless, php, dogs, dog training.

Tomáš Holcman

Tomáš went through almost all aspects of application development from frontend through mobile and backend development to managing infrastructure. In the past few years, he has been focused primarily on cloud and container stuff.

Being a digital nomad, modern physics, astrophysics, DeepLearning and IoT, food and drink, everything about DevOps, AWS, Google Cloud, IaC, docker, terraform.

Tomáš Papež

Tomas has a background in managing HA Linux clusters and then he discovered the power of Cloud computing. He started experiments with Azure and ended up with Google. He loves to play with Kubernetes, CI/CD based on multiple technologies and Serverless.

Lucie Mlčáková

Lucy joined Kiwi.com a year ago and she is responsible for process documentation, review and investigation of outage reports – postmortems, ensuring that the process is followed and the issues meet all the criteria. She spent more than 10 years in process roles, including ITIL processes, people and project management.

Jan Gorjanc

Jan has transitioned from a full-stack developer to purely backend, from PHP to Golang, and ever since he joined Kiwi.com in 2018, he’s been focusing on DevOps. With a passion for technology, he is always on the lookout for latest cutting edge tech.

Jiří Nečas

Jiří is an enthusiast in building communities and organizing events that bring people together and benefit society. He works as a Global Community Coordinator at Kiwi.com for over two years.

He manages the educational platform of code.kiwi.com and organizes IT conferences, hackathons, educational programs, meetups, competitions, and other unconventional events. Just last year, more than 160 events in 23 countries went under his hands.

Among other things, he is a passionate traveler and has lived for several months in Australia and the United States.

What skills do I need for the weekend?

You should be able to solve the entry task

Is there any fee to pay?

No, the whole educational weekend is free of charge and sponsored by Kiwi.com.

Do you provide free flights?

Each accepted participant that doesn’t come from Slovenia will get a 50 EUR Kiwi.com voucher.

Do you provide accommodation?

Yes, we’ll book an AirBnB apartment for the non-Ljubljana participants. If you need accommodation, let us know via the application form.
